How to find the perfect rug….
All of our rugs are hand-woven and made out of the finest natural fibers, but we thought we’d take a minute to discuss the different uses and places for our collection of rugs.
JUTE RUGS
Jute rugs are woven from dried fibers from the jute plant, making them one of the most environmentally-friendly rugs you can buy! They are excellent for pet-friendly households due to their durability and relatively low maintenance, as often a quick vacuum is enough to keep them clean. Most jute rugs are reversible, so if you need to flip them over they will look brand new! They are a bit thicker than other natural-fiber rugs, especially when placed on top of a rug pad.
One of the only drawbacks of jute rugs is that they are not suitable for high-moisture environments like a bathroom mat or an outdoor mat. The dried plant fibers from which they are woven make them quite absorbent, which can lead to them becoming mildewed, moldy, and falling apart. They also tend to leave behind some fibers on their bottom side when they are moved around, but this is quickly remedied with a rug pad.
Best suited for: hallways, kitchens, living rooms, dining and breakfast rooms.
MODERN OUSHAK RUGS
These rugs are hand woven with a 100% wool and are often soft with elegant, distinctive bright colors and beautiful patterns. Unlike most Turkish rugs, the oushaks have been influenced by Persian culture. They are named for the town that is best known for producing them, and the artistry has been passed down from generation to generation and is not easily replicated by someone other than a skilled craftsman. These rugs are known for their quality of wool and easily distinguishable geometric or floral patterns.
FLATWEAVE DHURRIE RUGS
Our flatweave rugs are created from cotton & wool, which is known for its comfort and ability to capture vibrant colors. These rugs are a lot lighter than most others, making them particularly easy to move and clean as needed. Flatweave rugs are easily customizable and come in an astounding variety of colors and patterns, which all but guarantees you will be able to find one for almost any room! These durable rugs are perfect for high-traffic areas and are quite easy to clean, making them perfect for a busy household.
Another benefit of the flatweave rug is that they don’t shed much at all, which is a result of how they are woven. Unlike heavier rugs, they don’t trap as much heat in the summer months, making your utility bill a bit easier to look at! These versatile, lovely rugs are always a good option to add to your household!
