get to know Colleen.....

Colleen is a New Orleans native and recognized interior designer, whose work has been featured in national publications including Southern Living and Garden and Gun. In addition to designing for and managing Fig & Dove, Colleen practices full-service residential interior design through Colleen Waguespack Interiors. She is as comfortable implementing contemporary interior elements as she is blending antiques with modern upholstery and an eclectic collection of art. Her signature style is a well-edited home that reflects each client’s personal taste, lifestyle, and background.

Q & A

What is your favorite color pairing? Current color you are loving?

My favorite color pairing changes year to year based on the inspiration that we find from our Interior Design business, Colleen Waguespack Interiors  and Fig & Dove.  Last year it was chartreuse and gold and this year we are keeping with that palette and threading in the color blush!

What city can you not wait to go back to? Which hotel & restaurant do you find inspiring and can't wait to visit again?

Charleston, South Carolina.  We stayed at the Dewberry Hotel and would definitely go back to 167 Raw.  There is usually a wait but it is worth it- especially when there is plenty of shopping on King Street you can do in the meantime.

What is your go-to outfit?
A long dress and a belt.  I love a long dress because you can wear it with tennis shoes, sandals or heels and change the whole look by changing the belt and jewelry.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Cool Brew!!  For New Orleanians this is not a new thing… we were raised on it!

What is something always on your nightstand?
Stacks and stacks of books! Some I’ve read multiple times and some I’ve never finished (The 10 Day MBA was apparently outside my skill set, but is great for putting me to bed).  I custom designed our nightstands to hold a small library.  I do not watch a lot of TV, but I love a good book and a podcast.
What is your favorite room in your house and why?
My dining room- a lot of people rarely use their dining room, but I designed ours to work for formal entertaining as well as to be comfortable enough to use on a daily basis.  It’s an escape from the homework, laptops, phones, and the mess in the kitchen and a chance to just be together as a family.

quick round of never have i ever...

Stalked anyone on Instagram?

Yes!  Gucci Westman and her make up brand Westman Atelier.  I watch every single video and am totally obsessed yet I still feel the need for a person to actually select all the right products AND show me how to use them!

Shopped at Home Goods?

Nope.. no time to go digging!

Worn sneakers with a dress/skirt?

I have two pair of shoes with me every day plus flip flops in the car in case I can find the time to squeeze in a pedicure.  My grandmother carried a tote bag with extra shoes and I do the same.  I have a pair of sneakers to sub back and forth in at any time/ any day.  Too often I’m on job sites or at a stone yard and an open anything shoe would be a hazard.
