get to know Ariel Okin.....

Ariel Okin is the founder of her eponymous firm, Ariel Okin Interiors, a New York based, full-service interior design firm specializing in luxury residential, commercial, and hospitality projects across the country. Ariel’s signature style can be interpreted as “traditional with a twist” – warm, livable and elegant spaces, with an edited, contemporary and practical approach. A deft use of color, emphasis on clean lines, and mix of bespoke and antique items are hallmarks of her aesthetic, yet no two projects are alike; Ariel believes every home should reflect is owner.

What is your favorite color pairing? Current color you are loving?

My favorite color pairing is some combination of blues, greens, yellows and white. A current color I’m loving is a really sharp chartreuse in a silk or velvet mohair.

What city can you not wait to go back to? Which hotel & restaurant do you find inspiring and can't wait to visit again?

I would love to go to Paris! I haven’t been in so long. The Mayflower Inn & Spa is my favorite hotel, I can’t wait to visit again soon for our Fenimore Lane Design Summit on May 18th! I am always so inspired every time I’m there from a design perspective, and their culinary program is amazing too.

What is your design superpower?
Being able to translate what a client wants but can’t articulate, into a clearly defined vision.

What is your favorite hostess gift?

Chocolate chip cookies from the best bakery in our town – they could win a national award, they are sooooo good!

Favorite vintage source or home focused retail store?

Love local vintage shopping out here in CT and in Palm Beach, and also Chairish, 1stDibs, etc. Favorite home focused retail store, Plain Goods in New Preston, CT.

What is your go-to outfit?

Wide legged trousers, cashmere shell, field jacket, or jeans, white tee and navy blazer. Sneakers always lately. (Toddler mom life!)
