get to know Kara Miller.....

Some of Kara's earliest memories of design are the hours she spent daydreaming over Southern Living house plans and the wallpaper her Nana had in their cabana bath. Acutely aware of her surroundings from a young age, she fell in love with all that encompasses home; from the way, you feel when you walk inside, right down to the last little details.Kara was raised in Florida by southerners and spent many childhood summers in the Bahamas. It is this fusion of styles that helped form the approachable look she is known for. After graduating from Louisiana State University and returning home to South Florida, she started classes in Interior Design. Shortly thereafter, she was offered a position doing design work for General Contractors and hasn't looked back since. Kara loves nothing more than to listen to the kind of spaces her clients want to come home to and turn those ideas into reality.

q & a

What is your favorite color pairing? Current color you are loving?

I love working with color! I have so many favorite pairings it's very hard to choose just one. I always love a soft blue. It pairs well with so many tones. Conch shell pink is another favorite, but it needs to be muted enough so it maintains a level of sophistication. I sometimes will use a little hint of brown in spaces to help cut the cutesy of too much color.

What city can you not wait to go back to? Which hotel & restaurant do you find inspiring and can't wait to visit again?

I absolutely love Charleston, SC. We are fortunate enough to have projects there and I always love to stay at The Dewberry. A favorite restaurant would be the Zero. It is quite a  culinary experience!

What is your design superpower?
Ha! I would say helping clients discover their innate style. Instead of me imposing my design will on them, I like to try and help them create the very best version of themselves in their home.

What is your favorite hostess gift?

Hands down a beautifully scented candle and fresh flowers!

Favorite vintage source or home focused retail store?

Chairish on the web and Palm Beach Regency local goods.

quick round of never have i ever...

No way! I leave some things to the professionals. ;)

Shopped at Home Goods?

I have from time to time, yes.

Arranged books by color?

 Yes.
